Emanuel Emegha, the 22-year-old Dutch forward and captain of RC Strasbourg Alsace, has spoken out to reassure fans after the official confirmation of his transfer to Chelsea. He is set to join the London club next summer, but will remain a crucial part of Strasbourg`s squad until the end of the current season.
Emegha has already made a significant impact at Strasbourg since his arrival, accumulating 26 goals and 5 assists in 64 appearances. He has started the current season strongly, netting three goals in the first four matches. Despite the impending move, Emegha`s focus remains squarely on his current club, as he aims to contribute to their campaigns in Ligue 1 and the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Emegha`s Commitment and Gratitude to Strasbourg
In a video published on Strasbourg’s social media channels, Emegha openly conveyed his gratitude and commitment to the club and its supporters.
“Strasbourg offered me the opportunity to develop and reach my current level, and I am still growing. I am truly thankful to the club and its fans for everything they have done for me,” Emegha stated. “My sole focus is 100% on Strasbourg until the season ends, and then I will depart.”
Explaining the Early Announcement
Emegha also shed light on the timing of the announcement, explaining it as a strategic decision to prevent potential distractions.
“I don’t want there to be rumors or things that could distract my team or myself, so I believe this is the best decision to make it public now,” he clarified. “Everyone knows my personality. My behavior or work ethic will not change just because my departure is known. I am someone who gives 100% every single day for the team and for the club, and I will continue doing this until the very end.”
Choosing Chelsea Amidst Top European Interest
The Dutch forward further revealed that his decision to join Chelsea came after considering interest from “other top European clubs that play in the Champions League.” However, following extensive discussions involving RC Strasbourg, Chelsea, and their shared ownership group BlueCo, it was collectively decided that remaining at Strasbourg for an additional year before transferring to Chelsea was the optimal path for his long-term career development.
