It’s the sixth day of ICC Men’s Cricket World cup 2023, Idia where the Bangla Tigers are taking on England in the 7th game of the group stages. Bangladesh have already taken down high spirited AFG in their first match of CWC23 at the same sandy-venue. 

Shakib, again winning the toss chooses to bat first against ENG and tries to restrict them like the Kiwis have done earlier in the tournament. ENG have lost the opener of the ICC ODI Men’s Cricket Worldcup quite badly to NZ. Therefore, they would try to labour out for winning this one to open their account in the ICC WC23.

Both teams make one change in their playing eleven. England have rested Moin and brought back Reece Toplay whilst Bangladesh have given an opportunity to Mehidy Hasan for Mahmmadullah. 

Jonny Bairstow, playing his 100th ODI is just handed over the memento cap by Eoin Morgan, will openthe innings together with one of the best ODI batters David Malan. As usual, Bairstow is more lethal in power play with 102.88 strike rate and averaging 56+ besides hitting two hundred twenty-three fours and thirty 6s. Whereas, Malan averages 73.10 while batting first in ODIs. Therefore, BAN will be toiling against the English openers.

Likewise, Mustafiz and Taskin will open the bowling for Bangladesh in this ICC CWC match 7 at Dharamsala. Baisrtow and Malan provide solid platform and post 61 for none in 1st ten. During the first power play both batter steal nine 4s and two 6s. 

The 2nd power play also seems favouring ENG as Malan reaches his 39-balls fifty striking at 128 in the 14th over. His first WC fifty includes seven 4s and two 6s. Meanwhile, Bairstow also brings up his 50 off 54 balls striking at 93. His half century comes with the help of 8 boundaries. 

Bairstow-Malan looking solid when Shakib provides a breakthrough. 115-runs stand is broken with Baristow returns to the pavilion after scoring 52 off 59 in the 18th over. One-down Joe Root averaging 93.72 against offspin in ODIs will be a big test for Bangladeshi spinners.  England collect 67 from 11-20 for the loss of one wicket.

Root together with Malan anchor the innings very well for the 2nd wicket. ENG grab 59 from 21-30 and here comes Malan maiden Men’s ODI Worldcup hundred in just 91 deliveries. It’s his 6th in 23 ODIs that includes twelve 4s and two 6s. With this century, 36-years left-hand batter becomes the oldest English to score ton in ICC Men’s ODI WC.

It’s time for Root to raise his bat for his back-to-back fifties at ICC CWC23. His fifty comes in just 44 balls. It’s Joe Root’s 54th fifty in 162 ODIs only one less to Eoin Morgon who has the highest 50+ score for England. One of the FAB-4, Root, smashes four 4s and one 6 in his half century. Joe Root also becomes the man with most runs for England in ICC ODI World Cups. He passes by Greame Gouch who previously held the record with 897 runs.

151-runs partnership for the 2nd wicket has been broken by Mahedi Hasan when Malan misses the slowish delivery and gets his top of off. Malan goes for 140 off 107 striking at almost 131. Buttler comes in to pace the innings but goes for 20 off 10.

ENG make 111 from 31-40 overs. the 2nd power play ends with ENG on top as they add 237 for the loss of three in the 2nd power play with the runrate of 7.97.

Shoriful begins the third power play with a huge roar. He provides double strikes for BAN and quickly removes Root and Livingston. Root goes for 82 off 68 while Livingston is sent back without opening his account. ENG are 5 down for 307 in 42.
