Éric-Junior Dina Ebimbe joined Stade Brestois on loan from Eintracht Frankfurt during the final days of the transfer window. However, as he revealed in a recent interview, the career path of the former France youth international could have taken a significantly different turn.
During the January transfer window, AS Monaco expressed keen interest in Dina Ebimbe. The club from the Principality was eager to strengthen its midfield. A deal was on the verge of completion but ultimately fell through during the medical examination phase. Dina Ebimbe has now clarified the circumstances.
“The move to Monaco didn`t materialize because I suffered a knock while at Frankfurt. To be clear, it was a bruise, not a deep-seated physical issue. I`ve never had chronic physical problems in my life, and I meticulously care for my body,” explained the Paris Saint-Germain academy product.
“I am typically very fit, but sometimes you just get hit. There was a degree of oversight, and I continued training with the bruise, which caused it to worsen. Monaco informed me they needed a player immediately ready to play, which I wasn`t at that moment. I fully understand their decision; it was logical. They required someone who could contribute quickly, and since I would have been sidelined for perhaps three or four weeks, they opted to pursue other targets,” he added.
Consequently, Monaco eventually secured the loan signing of Moatasem Al-Musrati from Besiktas instead.
