Facundo Medina, the 26-year-old defender, will be sidelined for several weeks at his new club Olympique de Marseille due to an injury sustained during training this week.
According to information from L’Équipe, Medina, who is on loan from RC Lens with an option for a permanent move, suffered an ankle injury on Tuesday. This incident forced him to leave the La Commanderie training ground on crutches.
Initially, it was anticipated that Medina would miss Marseille`s first home game of the season against Paris FC on Saturday. However, it now appears his debut for the club will be delayed for weeks. He had already missed the season opener against Stade Rennais due to a prior suspension.
The injury also means Medina will be absent from Marseille’s crucial early-season encounter with rivals Olympique Lyonnais. His return is expected after the international break, which consequently rules him out of playing for his national side, Argentina, despite his prior pre-selection alongside club teammates Leonardo Balerdi and Gerónimo Rulli.
