Fans Criticise ICC for excluding Babar Azam from World Cup Promol: India Cup

India Cup: Fans criticise ICC for excluding Babar Azam from World Cup promol. The removal of ODI number one batter Babar Azam from the World Cup ad was one of many issues for which the International Cricket Council (ICC) released a video of the commercial on Thursday. Stars in the advertisement included Indian superstar Shahrukh Khan, Jemimah Rodrigues, Eoin Morgan, Jonty Rhodes, and Shubman Gill.

However, the absence of Babar Azam, the top ODI player, from the movie confused cricket enthusiasts. The ICC World Cup promotion was frequently referred to as the “India National Cricket Team’s (ICT) promo” or the “Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) promo.”

Many others observed that the Pakistani flag wasn’t present in the video. Ten teams will compete for the elusive title from October 5 to November 19 at ten different venues, with the tournament’s opening and championship matches taking place at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

The video contains all the essential components of a powerful sports advertisement, including ecstatic supporters, the spirit of sportsmanship, international recognition, cultural references, and more.

However, the exclusion of Pakistan’s greatest talents from the video, particularly Babar Azam, has caused fans to doubt the selection process and express their displeasure over the underrepresentation of Pakistani players. The absence of the Pakistani flag from the promo has also fueled exclusionary feelings.

Notably, the promo includes Wahab Riaz and star Pakistani sprinter Shaheen Afridi, both of whom will compete in the 2019 World Cup.

The amusing video includes vintage footage of memorable scenes from previous World Cup tournaments. Jemimah Rodrigues, an Indian women’s cricket player, and several of her admirers performed a dance sequence for the promo.

In the meanwhile, on October 6, Pakistan will face the Netherlands to begin their World Cup 2023 campaign. On October 15, they will face off against India in a highly anticipated match at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.
