FC Metz Secures Goalkeeper Jonathan Fischer in €3M Deal

Football & Cricket

FC Metz, recently promoted to Ligue 1, has officially confirmed the acquisition of 23-year-old goalkeeper Jonathan Fischer from Norwegian top-flight club Fredrikstad. Reports from Le Républicain Lorrain indicate that an agreement was reached between the clubs for a transfer fee of €3 million. Fischer has committed to a four-year contract with Les Grenats. The move addresses Metz`s need for a new custodian following the departures of Alexandre Oukidja and Arnaud Bodart, the latter having transferred to Lille OSC.

The ex-Denmark U19 international is anticipated to be coach Stéphan Le Mignan`s preferred choice between the posts as Metz aims to secure its position in Ligue 1 after earning promotion via a playoff victory against Reims. Fischer will don the number one shirt for Les Grenats. Expressing his excitement, Fischer stated, “I am very happy and keen to make my debut for FC Metz. I`ve seen some videos and was truly impressed by the passion of their supporters.”
