A recent surge in friction has been observed between Paris Saint-Germain and the French national football team. This stems from injuries sustained by two PSG players, Ousmane Dembélé and Désiré Doué, during France’s 2-0 victory against Ukraine last Friday.
The club has confirmed that Dembélé faces a six-week recovery period, while Doué is expected to be sidelined for four weeks. PSG had previously alerted the French national team`s medical personnel about Dembélé’s pre-existing fitness concerns. The club reportedly believes these warnings were disregarded and is said to be “furious” with the national team`s handling of the player.
This incident prompted PSG to issue an official press release, advocating for enhanced collaboration with France`s medical staff moving forward.
“The club regrets that its recommendations were not heeded by the French national team`s medical staff, and furthermore, laments the complete absence of communication and consultation from the medical team,” the statement articulated.
PSG further expressed its hope that these “unfortunate occurrences” would pave the way for formalizing new coordination protocols between the club and Les Bleus. The club urged for these measures to be implemented “urgently” to foster more “transparent and collaborative” practices.
FFF Seeks De-escalation
In response to the escalating friction, the French Football Federation (FFF) is now seeking to de-escalate the situation. According to reports from L’Équipe, FFF president Philippe Diallo has dispatched a letter to his PSG counterpart, Nasser Al-Khelaifi.
The letter`s primary aim was to advocate for a resolution to the dispute, while Diallo simultaneously affirmed his confidence in France’s medical personnel. Additionally, Diallo championed improved collaboration between the FFF and PSG, a sentiment previously echoed by the Parisian club.
