With less than a year remaining until the 2026 FIFA World Cup kicks off on June 11, 2026, in Mexico City, Mexico, comprehensive information has been released regarding the process for fans to secure tickets. This landmark tournament, hosted across the United States, Mexico, and Canada, will be the first edition to feature 48 teams, an expansion from the previous 32. This expansion also introduces a new knockout round of 32 teams following the group stage, prior to the traditional Round of 16.
While the full roster of qualifying teams is not yet complete, more nations are booking their places during each international window leading up to the World Cup draw, which will take place on December 5 in Washington D.C., once inter-confederation playoffs are concluded. Even before then, the ticketing program, which operates as a lottery, is scheduled to launch on September 10, giving fans an early opportunity to secure tickets for this highly anticipated event.
How the Ticketing System Works
Fans interested in attending can register their interest now by creating a FIFA ID on the official FIFA website, a prerequisite for obtaining tickets. The entry period for the presale draw will open on September 10 at 11 a.m. ET and will run until Friday, September 19. This initial presale draw is exclusively available to Visa cardholders.
Following the entry period, a draw will take place, and selected users will receive email notifications. These fortunate fans will be granted a specific date and time slot to purchase tickets, with purchasing windows commencing on October 1. Ticket availability is subject to demand. During this phase, single-match tickets for all games, as well as venue-specific and team-specific offerings, will be made available.
Ticket prices will start at $60 for group stage matches and can range up to $6,730 for premium seats at the World Cup final.
- Phase 2: An early ticket draw with a registration window anticipated to run from October 27-31. Applicants will be selected and then emailed with designated slots to purchase tickets.
- Phase 3: A random selection draw, also requiring registration, will be conducted after the group stage draw on December 5. At this point, fans will have knowledge of where teams are playing, which will inform their ticket purchase decisions.
Closer to the start of the tournament, additional opportunities to purchase tickets will arise for those who were not eligible for the presale draw or who wish to acquire more tickets. FIFA will also establish an official resale platform to prevent unauthorized reselling, and a dedicated official ticket exchange platform will be available for residents in Mexico.
Hospitality packages are already available for purchase and feature three distinct offerings:
- Single Match Offerings: Starting at $1,350 per person, this package includes one group stage game of your choice (excluding host nations) and one Round of 32 match of your choice. It also grants access to FIFA hospitality options around the matches.
- Venue Series: Priced from $8,275, this package allows fans to attend all matches (4-9 total) at a venue of their choosing. No match days or stages are excluded from this option, and it includes matchday hospitality.
- Follow My Team: Starting at $6,750, this package is not yet available for the host nations but will enable fans to follow their chosen team through all their group stage matches and one Round of 32 match. Similar to the other offerings, this also includes access to matchday hospitality.
