Barcelona Friendly Called Off at the Last Minute
La Liga powerhouse Barcelona has experienced a setback in their pre-season preparations for the upcoming campaign, with the confirmation that their next scheduled friendly match has been cancelled.
Hansi Flick's squad recently took to the field for the first time this summer last Friday. Following a pre-season training camp in England, the Catalan giants suffered a penalty shootout loss to Birmingham City.
The next fixture on their agenda was a friendly against Birmingham's Championship rivals, Preston North End, scheduled for Monday.
However, on the eve of the match, Flick and his team were informed that the game would not proceed as planned. According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the cancellation is due to Barcelona's opponents having several players unavailable and intending to field a large squad of Under-21 players.
Consequently, Barcelona will now hold an unscheduled training session on Monday.
