FC Barcelona has officially confirmed the departure of another promising player from their ranks, with young defender Jofre Torrents completing a transfer on Monday. This marks the second sale for the Catalan club in less than a day.

The 19-year-old Torrents had recently been a subject of media attention, with reports indicating that Barcelona was open to offers for him. Dutch powerhouse Ajax quickly expressed their interest in acquiring the young talent.

This is not the first business conducted between Barcelona and Ajax this summer; the clubs previously agreed to a loan deal that sent goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen to the Amsterdam-based team.

Despite Jofre's high standing within Barcelona's youth system, negotiations commenced for his transfer to Amsterdam. These discussions have now culminated in an agreement.

Barcelona released an official statement on their website and social media channels, announcing the transfer: "FC Barcelona and Ajax have reached an agreement for the transfer of defender Jofre Torrents. FC Barcelona would like to thank Jofre Torrents for his commitment, professionalism and dedication throughout all these years representing the Club, and wishes him the very best of luck and every success in this new stage of his professional career."

Reports suggest that Ajax has paid approximately €5 million for 50% of Jofre's playing rights.
