La Liga club Barcelona is set to shoulder the bulk of Marc-André ter Stegen's salary for the upcoming season, even as the German goalkeeper nears a departure from the Catalan capital.

Ter Stegen has long been linked with an exit from Barcelona. Following his loan spell at Girona in the latter half of last season, the 34-year-old is reportedly further down the pecking order in Hansi Flick's squad.

Dutch club Ajax has recently initiated discussions for a one-year loan agreement for Ter Stegen.

These negotiations are reportedly in their final stages, with only minor points left to be settled between the two clubs.

Despite his anticipated move to another prominent European club for the 2026/27 season, Barcelona will still be responsible for nearly all of Ter Stegen's wages.

According to a report from Jijantes, as referenced by Diario Sport:

"Ajax will only cover between 10% and 15% of the German goalkeeper's current salary."
