Hansi Flick Clarifies Marcus Rashford's Limited Playing Time at Barcelona
Barcelona's head coach, Hansi Flick, has offered an explanation regarding the recent scarcity of playing minutes for their star forward, Marcus Rashford.
This clarification addresses growing concerns about the English player's long-term future in the Catalan capital.
Barcelona is currently navigating a crucial phase of their season, actively competing across multiple competitions.
While recently eliminated from the Copa del Rey, they are still very much in contention for the La Liga title and are pursuing success in the Champions League.
However, during these critical matches, Marcus Rashford has found himself relegated to the substitutes' bench.
Indeed, after playing only 20 minutes against Newcastle United at St. James’ Park last week, the Manchester United loanee has been completely absent from Barcelona's subsequent two fixtures.
During his pre-match press conference on Saturday, Hansi Flick was questioned about Rashford's recent playing status.
The German coach proceeded to clarify:
“Regarding Rashford, he experienced some physical discomfort in recent days, which led us to exercise caution. That's why he wasn't playing. He is now fully fit.”
