Former Serie A and Italy international Antonio Cassano has voiced his support for AC Milan forward Santiago Gimenez. While acknowledging that Gimenez “makes mistakes and is struggling,” Cassano described him as “phenomenal in my opinion.”
Throughout the summer, there was considerable speculation surrounding the Mexican forward, with suggestions that his time at Milan might be cut short. Despite these rumors, Gimenez remained in Lombardy but has yet to register his first goal of the current season.

During an appearance on the Twitch show “Viva el Futbol,” Cassano remarked (as quoted by MilanNews24), “Gimenez, to me, is phenomenal, but he`s making errors and finding it tough. What do you expect when you were keen to sell him at any cost? It`s natural for him not to be happy, but for me, he is very good.”
Cassano himself played for AC Milan for a season and a half, spanning the 2010-11 and 2011-12 campaigns. During his tenure, the Italian netted eight goals across 40 appearances in all competitions for the Rossoneri.

Given his own experience, Cassano understands the immense pressure and responsibility that comes with leading the attack for a club of Milan`s stature.
He attributes Gimenez`s current struggles to this very pressure, suggesting it has prevented the striker from recapturing the prolific goal-scoring form he displayed during his time at Feyenoord before joining Milan.
