Former Barcelona Player Carles Perez Hospitalized After Bizarre Dog Attack

Football & Cricket

Carles Perez, a former Barcelona youth product, has been hospitalized following a bizarre dog bite incident to his genitals. This unfortunate event will sideline the 27-year-old midfielder, causing him to miss Aris Thessaloniki`s Europa Conference League qualification matches, as confirmed by the club to Marca.

Reports indicate the incident occurred in Thermi, Thessaloniki, while Perez was walking his pet dog. The bite happened as individuals attempted to separate two dogs. According to AS, there`s a possibility that surgery may be required for the injury.

The winger, who joined Aris on loan this season from Getafe, recently played in their first Europa Conference League leg against Araz-Naxçivan from the Azerbaijan Premier League last Thursday. Aris unfortunately lost that away match 2-1 and is scheduled to play the home leg this Thursday.

Last season in La Liga, Perez was a significant player for Getafe, making 27 appearances and scoring three goals. He was anticipated to be a crucial asset for Aris this season. His return date to the club remains uncertain. Throughout his career, Perez has played for several notable clubs, including Barcelona, Roma, Celta Vigo, Getafe, and now Aris. He has also represented Spain at various youth national team levels, up to the U-21. For a recent acquisition, missing games during such a vital period for the club is undoubtedly a setback, but the primary concern is his complete recovery from this highly unusual event.
