Despite the recent closure of the transfer window in most major European leagues, Lille OSC is still looking to offload a player from their roster. Reports from Foot Mercato indicate that the French club, known as Les Dogues, has received bids from undisclosed clubs for midfielder André Gomes, aged 32.
Gomes, who previously played for Everton, returned to Lille last summer as a free agent, following a loan spell during the 2022/23 season. However, he has since been deemed surplus to requirements for the current season, as Bruno Génésio`s squad possesses a strong midfield lineup, including Benjamin André, Ngal’ayel Mukau, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Nabil Bentaleb, and Ugo Raghouber.
A clear indication of his impending departure is Gomes` exclusion from Lille`s UEFA Europa League squad, signaling the club`s preparation for a future without the Portuguese international. With the midfielder entering the final year of his two-year contract, Lille is eager to sell him now to avoid losing him on a free transfer next summer.
