Former head selector anticipates senior cricket players to perform well in the Melbourne Test. Mohammad Wasim, a former top selector, has emphasized the significance of finding the ideal lineup if Pakistan hopes to compete successfully against Australia in Test matches. He also said that performance of pakistan team during Australia match was not well so now they are anticipating good performance from senior players.

In an interview with Geo News in Karachi, the former cricket player emphasized how important it will be for Pakistan to have strong showings from Shan Masood, Shaheen Afridi, and Babar Azam in the forthcoming Melbourne Test, which starts on December 26. He emphasized that bowling problems are the main cause of Pakistan’s difficulties in Australia.

We often claim that our batsmen do poorly in Australia, but if we look back in time, we can see that our players have occasionally turned in outstanding performances. However, when it comes to getting 20 wickets in a Test match, we typically fall short, he said.

The former chief selector emphasized, “There have been some elite bowlers in history who do not have good numbers in Australia.”

He brought up Pakistan’s comparable situation in Perth, where the squad made a tactical error by leaving out a specialist spinner from the starting lineup. He made the point that having a specialist spinner in the starting eleven is usually crucial.

“You always need a proper spinner on the playing lineup, regardless of the condition of the pitch. Pakistan lost the trick there because, even if you observe, Salman Agha was getting a little spin, Wasim added.

In Melbourne, he expressed hope that Pakistan would come up with a better plan. In addition, the former chief selector emphasized the need of starting seasoned professionals in the starting lineup as opposed to all-rounders.

You don’t have to look well at bat until you are ranked ninth on paper. The next two won’t help either if your seven batters aren’t clicking,” he said.

“Babar Azam needs to score in Melbourne because that wicket will be ideal for him. Babar, in my opinion, has the same obligation as Shaheen. Shaheen needs to take wickets and Babar needs to score runs if Pakistan is to win,” he said in closing.
