Marcus Coco, the 29-year-old former defender for FC Nantes, is reportedly close to finalizing a transfer to Romanian club CFR Cluj.
Having seen his contract with Nantes expire at the close of the previous season, Coco spent the summer training diligently with the UNFP FC team. This specialized camp is designed to assist out-of-contract footballers in France, providing them with a platform to maintain fitness and showcase their skills. Throughout this period, he had several opportunities to re-enter professional football.
Notably, an offer from a Russian club was on the table; however, Coco`s parents advised him against the move. Respecting their counsel, he chose to patiently await alternative proposals.
Subsequently, a range of new offers emerged, and the defender has now made his decision. Choosing between Hapoel Tel-Aviv and CFR Cluj, Coco opted for the latter. He is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Romanian side. Upon joining CFR Cluj, he will link up with Kurt Zouma, who also recently moved to the club earlier this week.
