Evann Guessand, the 24-year-old forward from Ivory Coast, has surprisingly remained with OGC Nice, defying earlier expectations of a swift departure. This comes as the club intensifies its preparations for the upcoming season.
It`s not for a lack of interest that Guessand has stayed. Wolverhampton Wanderers previously expressed interest in the center-forward at the beginning of the campaign, but he was not keen on making the switch. Similarly, Turkey was also suggested as a potential destination, yet he declined that opportunity as well.
Manager Haise Confirms High Probability of Guessand`s Exit
Brighton and Hove Albion continue to show strong interest in Guessand, alongside several other Premier League clubs. Furthermore, Saudi Pro League side Neom SC, which recently acquired Marcin Bulka from Nice, has also entered the bidding race.
Given such widespread interest, Franck Haise has confirmed his expectation that Guessand will depart this summer. The Nice manager stated, “As long as he is present, I consider him a player in the squad, and we are working for him to perform well, even though there`s a 90% likelihood of him leaving.”
Nice is scheduled to play Benfica in the third round of UEFA Champions League qualifying on August 6th. It remains to be seen whether Guessand will play any part in that crucial match.
