Franck Haise Uncertain About Tanguy Ndombélé’s Return

Football & Cricket

OGC Nice midfielder Tanguy Ndombélé, 28, has undergone surgery for a sports hernia, but his exact return date remains unknown.

The club confirmed in early July that Ndombélé had successfully undergone the procedure for an issue that plagued him throughout the latter half of the previous season. The former Tottenham Hotspur player first disclosed his struggle with a sports hernia in January, a condition that progressively worsened, pushing him from the fringes of the squad to complete absence. His last Ligue 1 appearance was in late February.

Previously, Ndombélé had been hesitant to undergo the surgery. Nice manager Franck Haise confirmed this to L’Équipe, stating:

“He has had surgery and that is good. I regret that it happened so late because I would have preferred for him to do pre-season with us. It was his choice [not to undergo surgery]. That’s how it is.”

Haise could not provide a specific timeline for Ndombélé`s return to action. He further remarked:

“I am just waiting for one thing: to see when the doctor and Benoît (Delaval, head of performance) say that he can train intensely with the squad. I don’t know if that will be October, November, December, in January…”
