Newcastle United is reportedly rekindling discussions with Inter Milan regarding a potential transfer for midfielder Davide Frattesi, which could see him reunite with former teammate Sandro Tonali. Both Italian internationals share the same agent, Beppe Riso, who has openly admitted to pushing for Frattesi`s departure from Inter earlier this year.
Reports from Sky Sport Italia indicate that Inter might be receptive to a deal for Frattesi. This isn`t the first time the Italian midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Nerazzurri. Earlier in the summer, clubs like Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, and Newcastle all showed interest, and his agent, Riso, even explored a potential transfer to Roma during the January window.

Riso explained his proactive approach, stating in February: “It was my idea… I saw Davide feeling down because he expected to play more, and I felt bad about it. So, I started working to find alternatives for him, not just in Italy.”
While Frattesi himself didn`t publicly push for a transfer, his representative was actively seeking options due to the player`s inconsistent starting role under coach Simone Inzaghi.
Frattesi`s Inter Tenure: Key Contributions Amidst Bench Time
Despite his desire for more game time, Frattesi had a significant season in 2024-25, featuring 56 times for Inter across all competitions and accumulating nearly 2,000 minutes on the pitch. He also netted vital Champions League goals against European giants like Bayern Munich and Barcelona, showcasing his impact when called upon.

However, his role often remained that of a crucial substitute; 19 of his 36 Serie A appearances last season were from the bench. Recent reports had suggested that manager Cristian Chivu might utilize Frattesi more this term, yet he remained an unused substitute in Inter`s commanding 5-0 victory over Torino last weekend. Frattesi has tallied 15 goals in 89 appearances for Inter, with his current contract at San Siro set to expire in June 2028.
