Premier League club Fulham FC is reportedly on the verge of signing experienced goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte, aged 34, from Montpellier. His departure from the French club was anticipated, especially after their recent relegation to Ligue 2, which followed a challenging Ligue 1 season coinciding with the club`s 50th anniversary. Lecomte was also one of Montpellier`s top earners. Despite having been called up by Didier Deschamps for the senior squad, the former France U21 international remains uncapped and was previously under contract with Montpellier until 2027.
Lecomte is expected to arrive in London this Monday to undergo a medical examination with Fulham. The Cottagers have been actively seeking a reliable backup goalkeeper to support their German international, Bernd Leno. Fulham has reportedly agreed to a transfer fee of €500,000 with the Ligue 2 side. Following this move, Montpellier is now expected to be in the market for a replacement between the posts, with Jonathan Sirois from Montréal reportedly identified as their primary target.
