Barcelona star Gavi has expressed his belief that Real Madrid should have suspended Aurélien Tchouaméni for his involvement in a recent training ground confrontation with teammate Federico Valverde.
The incident between midfielders Tchouaméni and Valverde garnered significant attention in the football world earlier this month. Reports confirmed that the pair engaged in a physical altercation at Real Madrid’s training facility.
The confrontation resulted in Valverde being taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a head injury that sidelined him for two weeks. Tchouaméni, however, was reportedly unharmed and subsequently played in Real Madrid’s match against their fierce rivals, Barcelona, later that same weekend.
Gavi, the Barcelona midfielder, holds a different view regarding this situation. In a recent interview with Mundo Deportivo, as reported by Fabrizio Romano, Gavi commented on the incident at Valdebebas:
“Tchouaméni-Valverde? If you fight using your hands, in my opinion, the coach should not let you play the next game,” Gavi stated. “If it’s true… in my opinion, it was a mistake to play (Tchouaméni) in El Clásico. But I don’t know what actually happened.”

Barcelona star Gavi has shared his opinion that Aurélien Tchouaméni should have been suspended by Real Madrid for his role in a recent training ground clash with teammate Federico Valverde.
Midfielders Tchouaméni and Valverde recently made headlines across global football. This followed widespread confirmation that the pair had been involved in a physical altercation at Real Madrid’s training grounds.
The confrontation ultimately led to Valverde being taken to the hospital, facing a two-week absence due to a head injury.
Tchouaméni, on the other hand, emerged unharmed and even participated in Los Blancos’ game against arch-rivals Barcelona on the same weekend.
However, Gavi, the aforementioned player, believes this should not have been the case.
When asked about the Valdebebas incident during an interview with Mundo Deportivo (as cited by Fabrizio Romano) this week, Blaugrana midfielder Gavi explained:
“Tchouaméni-Valverde? If you fight using your hands, in my view, the coach should not let you play the next game. If it’s true… in my opinion, it was a mistake to play (Tchouaméni) in El Clásico. But I do not know what really happened.”
