Barcelona midfielder Gavi has shed light on a heated exchange he had with Real Madrid star Vinícius Jr. during their recent El Clásico encounter at the Spotify Camp Nou.
During the intense match, which Barcelona ultimately won 2-0, Vinícius Jr. was reportedly involved in an argument with the home crowd. In an attempt to provoke the Barcelona faithful, the Brazilian highlighted Real Madrid’s impressive record of 15 Champions League titles.
Gavi, unwilling to let such a remark go unanswered, confronted Vinícius Jr. Speaking after the game, the young Barcelona player revealed his response to Movistar, as reported by Fabrizio Romano.
“It’s football. What happens on the pitch stays on the pitch,” Gavi stated. “I told him to shut up (when Vini referred to the 15 Champions Leagues). He’s a fantastic player. I’m very different off the pitch. He’s a fiery player, just like me.”
