The player, who rejoined his boyhood club last summer after impressive performances for Metz, tearfully said goodbye to his Lyon teammates on Saturday as he prepares for a transfer to a Spanish club, according to Foot Mercato.
Initially deemed not for sale at the start of the transfer window, Mikautadze`s situation changed dramatically in recent days. Lyon, facing difficulties in selling other players, particularly Malick Fofana, was compelled to reconsider their stance when Villarreal tabled an offer of €35 million. The deal has already been agreed upon, and the Georgian footballer will travel to Spain for his medical examination and contract signing.
Mikautadze`s journey at Lyon carries a bittersweet sentiment. Released from the Olympique academy at 15, he then successfully rebuilt his career at Metz.
