Paris Saint-Germain appears to be on the verge of securing a deal for Lille OSC goalkeeper Lucas Chevalier. According to reports from Foot Mercato, a verbal agreement has already been established between the two clubs for the 23-year-old talent. This significant development has, in turn, raised questions about the immediate future of PSG`s current number one goalkeeper, Gianluigi Donnarumma.
The 26-year-old Italian international, who is currently in the final year of his contract with the Parisian club, has attracted considerable interest from several top European teams this summer, notably Manchester United and Manchester City. Initially, the impending arrival of Chevalier was widely seen as a clear signal of an imminent change in the goalkeeping hierarchy at the Parc des Princes.
However, journalist Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport suggests a different scenario: Donnarumma might not be leaving Paris Saint-Germain this summer after all. Sources indicate that the goalkeeper remains strongly committed to the PSG project and would only consider departing if he were to receive an exceptionally compelling offer from another club.
Hawkins further reveals that internal discussions within PSG include the possibility of Donnarumma and Chevalier competing directly for the starting goalkeeper role. The ultimate decision on who will be the preferred choice between the posts rests firmly with head coach Luis Enrique.
