Hafeez confirmed that the caretaker government appointed Mohsin Naqvi as PCB chairman and stressed the importance of giving full support to the chairman-designate. He cautioned against the chop-and-change approach of the leadership and warned that it could have a long-term negative impact on Pakistan cricket.

Also, Hafeez criticized the prevailing culture of suggestion and transfers in Pakistani sports as contributing to the erosion of sporting standards over time. He asked the legislators to intervene in PCB affairs and prevent political interference, stressing that policymaking should not be influenced by political considerations.

Reflecting on Pakistan’s recent 3-0 tour of Australia, Hafeez accepted responsibility for the team’s failure but noted that there were many things and expressed disappointment that he had been prevented from addressing the deficiencies of the tour during his tenure as team director.

Despite the obstacles, Hafeez was optimistic that Pakistan’s future would operate under Australian conditions but stressed the need for a culture of political recruitment and abrupt changes at the PCB among the seniors come to an end and urged the younger players to believe in their abilities and rise without relying on suggestions.
