ICC Cricket World Cup Bira 91 Official Partners is the company’s first venture into sports. Bira 91, as an official partner, will integrate the partnership across broadcast and digital media, as well as in-venue activations at all ICC events, using their product line (beer, including non-alcoholic beer and spicy sauce).

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has 104 member countries and is expanding its worldwide presence by redefining the game in order to make it more appealing to new fans. That outreach, which includes a focus on women and youth, aligns with Bira 91’s vision and basic philosophy: “Imagined in India, for the new world.” The brand hopes to inspire a global trend towards more flavour and colour in beer.

“As we started negotiating the agreement with Bira 91, the natural overlaps in their ambitions and ours became obvious,” said Campell Jamieson, ICC General Manager Commercial. Cricket has over one billion adult fans and is an obvious fit for this ambitious brand. The ICC is pleased to welcome Bira 91 as an official partner.

Bira 91 expanded five times in the previous fiscal year (ending March 31, 2018) and has grown to be comparable in volume to the top ten craft breweries in the United States in only three years since its establishment. Aside from India, the company has grown worldwide to the United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, the United Arab Emirates, and Bahrain, with plans to develop further in the United Kingdom and Vietnam. From its current capacity of 350,000 barrels, the business plans to more than fivefold its production footprint to 2,000,000 barrels by the summer of 2019.
