Their first meeting in a Cricket World Cup match took place on 16 June 1979 at Headingley, Leeds. The Pakistan team, led by Asif Iqbal, won the toss and took the top spot. 

England national team G.A. Using contributions from Gooch and DI Gower, they totaled 165 runs for the loss of 9 wickets after 60 overs. Majid Khand and Sikander Bakht took three wickets for Pakistan. Chasing a target of 166, Pakistan team scored 151 runs from 56 overs with M Hendrick taking 4 wickets for England.

In the 1983 Cricket World Cup, England and Pakistan played two matches in the same group. In the first match at Lord’s on 13 June, Pakistan won the toss and elected to bat first. They scored 193 runs for the loss of 8 wickets. England easily chased down the target by 2 wickets and won the match by 8 wickets.

 In the second leg of the group stage in Manchester on 18 June, Pakistan again won the toss and were elected to bat. Thanks to Javed Miandad’s half-century, they scored 232 runs in an 8-wicket loss. As in previous World Cup games, England won by 7 wickets, easily chasing half-centuries with the help of G Fowler and CJ Tabare. 

The two teams met twice in the World Cup in 1987. This time, Pakistan won both matches against runners-up England. Since we were in the same group, we faced each other on the league stage. 

The first match was played on October 13 in Rawalpindi. England won the toss and batted first. Pakistan posted 239 for the loss of seven wickets. England bowlers won 221 balls and Abdul Qadir took 4 wickets for Pakistan team. In the second match, England scored Pakistan’s 245 first before chasing down and winning in 49 overs with 7 wickets to spare.

The 1992 World Cup was the third consecutive match between England and Pakistan. The first match in Adelaide on 1 March ended in a draw. The second match was the World Cup final in Melbourne. 

Pakistan topped the coin toss with 249 with Imran Khan on 72. Chasing the target, England were bowled out for 227 and Pakistan won their first and only World Cup so far. The two World Cups in 1996 and 2003 respectively were back to back.

 In 1996, England won the toss for the first time. They set a target of 250 for the Pakistani batsmen who easily chased down half-centuries from Ijaz Ahmed and Saeed Anwar. Also in the 2003 match, England won the toss and elected to bat first. 

They put 246 runs on the board. Chasing a target of 247, Pakistan’s batting line-up collapsed, scoring 134 runs in 31 overs. After this match, England’s head-to-head record for Pakistan is 4 wins for each team.
