Juventus, currently in Germany for pre-season training, has seen head coach Igor Tudor experimenting with a pair of distinct tactical systems. This comes as they prepare for an upcoming friendly match against German giants Borussia Dortmund.
The Bianconeri have two remaining pre-season friendlies before their Serie A campaign kicks off on August 24 against Parma. Their schedule includes a Sunday fixture against Borussia Dortmund at Signal Iduna Park, followed by a match against Atalanta in Bergamo the subsequent weekend.
Reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport indicate that Tudor has been evaluating two different formations during the initial training sessions of the team`s German camp.
Tudor`s Tactical Setups in Pre-Season Training
One system tested is the 3-4-2-1, a formation Tudor frequently utilized during his initial months at the helm towards the end of the 2024-25 season. The second formation under review is a 4-2-3-1, a setup reminiscent of Thiago Motta`s preferred style before his departure last season.
In both tactical schemes, summer recruit Jonathan David has been positioned as the lone striker. The 4-2-3-1 formation specifically allowed Kenan Yildiz to operate in his favored number 10 role, providing space for supporting attacking midfielders like Francisco Conceicao and Teun Koopmeiners on either flank.
Furthermore, the 4-2-3-1 setup accommodates Andrea Cambiaso and new signing Joao Mario in their natural full-back positions.
