In 2023, Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi continued to be top performers

In 2023, Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi continued to be top performers. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) declared in a statement on Monday that bowler Shaheen Afridi and former captain Babar Azam continued to be Pakistan’s two best players in international cricket in 2023.

The PCB stated in a post on X that Afridi was Pakistan’s top wicket-taker and Babar was still the team’s top run scorer.

Days after Pakistan was eliminated from the World Cup in the group stages, Babar resigned as captain of the cricket team in November of last year.

Babar performed poorly in the 50-over Asia Cup and World Cup competitions before struggling in Pakistan’s current Test series against Australia.
