It’s Day 7 of the CWC23 where team India will try boosting their NRR by beating Afghanistan at Delhi, Kohli’s homeground. India have won the only WC game played between both these teams so its 1-0 in WCs till now. 

IND are coming out from a maiden win against AUS in Chennai in their first match of ICC WC23. On the other hand, Afghanistan lost to BAN in their opening match of the Men’s CWC 2023 at Dharamsala. 

Afghanistan skipper, Hashmatullah Shahidi, choses to bat first after winning the toss. Whereas, Rohit also wants to field first in this contest against India. Afghanistan will be eying at a big total for making it an interesting battle.

Ibrahim Zadran and Rehmanullah Gurbaz will open the innings for Aghanistan while India hope Jasprit and Siraj to provide early breakthrough in the 9th game of ICC Men’s ODI Cricket Worldcup 2023.

Afghanistan openers provide steady start in this contest of ICC CWC2023 in Delhi. But Jasprit Bumrah’s genius comes into play in the 7th over when his traps Ibrahim Zadran who edges the ball to the keeper’s gloves. AFG are 1 down at 32 after 7 and the opener goes for 22 off 28.

The backbone of AFG top-order, Gurbaz, goes this time when he tries to pull Hardik over deep fine-leg. Shardul Thakur bags a stunner at the boudaries and sends Gurbaz back to the dugout afterhis 21 off 28. AFG are 63 for 2 at the end of the 13.

Rahmat Shah also joins Gurbaz in the dugout as Shardul strikes for India. His a bit of inswing proves enough to remove Shah who gets LBW in front that would clip the leg stump. He goes for 16 off 22 and AFG are 3 down now at 63.

In the second powerplay, both Hashmatullah and Azmatullah played exceptionally well. From 63 runs on the board to 184 runs was a remarkable recovery from the middle-order. After scoring his maiden World Cup 50, Azmatullah departs for 62 to Hadik. After that, no one showed intent and kept losing wickets at regular intervals. 

Hashmatullah got out after scoring 80 runs when the scoreboard was 225. Muhammad Nabi joins the dugout after adding 10 runs to the total on the 45th board of the game. Rashid was last dismissed for 261 on the board in the 49th over of the game.
