Indian bowling was exceptional in the 20 overs they bowled in this inning. Muhammad Shami, Muhammad Siraj, and Bumrah all got wickets in their initial burst. Muhammad Shami was the man of the match who completed another 5-fer in this World Cup. Bumrah set the tone with the first ball wicket and then it was all Muhammad Siraj and Muhammad Shami. The last wicket was taken by Jadeja. Muhammad Shami took 5 wickets in his 5 overs spell by giving away only 18 runs. Muhammad Siraj took 3 wickets for 16 in his 7 overs. Bumrah and Jadeja got 1 wicket each.

Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bat first. They started brilliantly by bowling Sharma out on the second ball of the match but after that, Gill and Kohli made it so simple and provided India with the platform on which they posted a massive total on the board of 357 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.

Virat Kohli once again missed out on his 100, a bit unlucky but a perfect inning for his team. He made 88 runs off 94 balls. Gill also made 92 runs facing 92 balls. Shreyas Iyer’s cameo at the end helped to post that huge total on the board. India is the first team to qualify for the Semi-Final of the World Cup 2023.
