Conflicting reports have surfaced regarding potential successors for Hakan Calhanoglu at Inter Milan, amidst growing interest from José Mourinho`s Fenerbahçe. Prominent Italian sports newspapers have identified Granit Xhaka and Morten Frendrup as key candidates for the Nerazzurri`s midfield.
Fenerbahçe, now managed by José Mourinho, has recently emerged as the latest club to express an interest in securing Calhanoglu`s services.
Gazzetta Names Xhaka as Inter`s Primary Target

The Turkish international carries a €30 million valuation and has also attracted attention from Fenerbahçe’s domestic rivals, Galatasaray.
Although Inter has yet to receive any formal offers for Calhanoglu, the club is proactively assessing potential replacements, in anticipation that one of the interested parties might meet their asking price.
According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, Bayer Leverkusen`s star midfielder, Granit Xhaka, is reportedly Cristian Chivu’s top priority should Calhanoglu depart. The Swiss international has also been previously linked with moves to Serie A giants Juventus and Milan.
Corriere dello Sport Points to Frendrup for Inter

The Gazzetta report further suggests that while Xhaka is not the sole candidate for the central midfield role, he is certainly Chivu’s preferred option.
Conversely, Corriere dello Sport highlighted on its Sunday front page that Genoa`s Morten Frendrup is considered Inter’s leading target to replace Calhanoglu, should the Turkish playmaker leave San Siro.
Earlier in the month, Atalanta`s Ederson was also mentioned among the players on Inter’s watchlist. However, the Brazilian`s steep €50 million price tag could pose a challenge. Inter is also concurrently engaged in discussions regarding Ederson`s Atalanta teammate, Ademola Lookman.
