Giuseppe `Beppe` Marotta, Inter`s CEO and chairman, addressed reporters following the conclusion of the UEFA Champions League 2025-26 league phase draw. Inter is set to compete against a challenging lineup of opponents, including Liverpool, Dortmund, Arsenal, Atlético Madrid, Slavia Prague, Ajax, Kairat Almaty, and Union Saint-Gilloise.
During an interview with Sky, Marotta expressed his relief and satisfaction regarding the draw, particularly the opportunity to host Kazakh team Kairat Almaty at home. “We are very pleased to face Kairat at home,” he stated. “A seven-hour trip is a considerable demand. I observed that Real Madrid will have to undertake such a journey, so we are certainly content to play them at San Siro.”

Inter CEO Marotta Praises Summer Transfer Strategy
When questioned about the club`s summer transfer market and the possibility of additional late-window signings, the Inter chairman clarified that the team has already completed its transfer activities by adopting a distinct approach. “We`ve invested in five young players – four purchased and one proudly promoted from our youth academy. The average age of these acquisitions is 21.4. We are proud of this; we are following the guidelines of the ownership and of the club itself. As it stands, the squad perfectly aligns with our ambitions.”
Marotta also extended high praise to the new head coach, Cristian Chivu, highlighting how the coach`s extensive playing career experience would be invaluable in guiding the club through the upcoming season. Chivu took over from Simone Inzaghi, who departed for Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal shortly after the Champions League final.

“We consistently represent Italy,” Marotta affirmed, “being among the clubs with the most Champions League appearances in recent years. Chivu brings valuable experience; he has won the Champions League and understands how to confront formidable adversaries. This new tournament structure is challenging, so it`s crucial that we encounter our opponents when we are at our peak performance.”
