Clubs across Europe, notably Ligue 1 side Brest and Greek club Panathinaikos, are reportedly showing interest in Nantes goalkeeper Alban Lafont. The 26-year-old keeper has a contract with Nantes running until 2027, but the club has reportedly been seeking his departure. This follows a period where former coach Antoine Kombouaré moved him to the reserve squad due to inconsistent form.
Lafont has not played for Nantes` first team in a competitive match since December 2024. Nantes subsequently acquired Anthony Lopes from Lyon. Brest is reportedly exploring the possibility of a loan deal for Lafont. The club, also known as “Les Pirates”, needs a goalkeeper because their current Dutch international keeper, Marco Bizot, is reportedly close to joining Aston Villa in the Premier League.
