Joris Chotard, the promising 23-year-old midfielder from Montpellier, appears poised for a potential transfer this summer. Several clubs have expressed interest in securing his services, including French outfits AJ Auxerre and FC Nantes, alongside Belgian giants Anderlecht.
Following Montpellier`s recent relegation to Ligue 2, the club is actively seeking to offload some of its more valuable players to help manage finances. Chotard, whose current contract runs until 2026, is among their most sought-after assets. Reports indicate that the Hérault-based club is looking to generate approximately €3 million from his sale.
Despite having rejoined the squad for pre-season training, a departure for Chotard remains highly probable. Last summer, the midfielder was on the verge of joining Bundesliga side Wolfsburg, who had submitted a substantial €7 million bid. However, Montpellier`s sporting director, Bruno Carotti, ultimately turned down this offer, anticipating further interest that, unfortunately, did not materialise as expected.
Now, with Montpellier’s diminished league status following their relegation, the club is unlikely to command a transfer fee similar to what was offered previously. Chotard, for his part, has reportedly already declined two proposals from Greek clubs, signaling his clear preference to await a more suitable and ambitious project for his career development.
