Lille winger Edon Zhegrova has confirmed that he has acquired an Albanian passport. This development means he would not occupy a crucial non-EU player slot in the Juventus squad if his transfer to the Bianconeri goes through before the summer window closes.
Juventus has been actively pursuing a deal for the 26-year-old Kosovo international throughout August, with recent reports suggesting an agreement on personal terms has already been reached.
Zhegrova has since fueled speculation about a potential move to Juventus, notably by liking recent Instagram posts from Kenan Yildiz.
Zhegrova Granted Albanian Citizenship

Further adding to the transfer hints, Zhegrova announced on social media that he has officially received Albanian citizenship. This is significant as, under current Serie A regulations, he will no longer be considered a non-EU player.
The Lega Serie A updated its rules regarding non-EU player registration at the start of the 2024-25 season, with a key change being the recognition of Albanian nationals as EU players.
On Tuesday, Zhegrova shared a screenshot on his Instagram story of a WhatsApp conversation with Edi Rama, the President of Albania, confirming the approval of his Albanian citizenship. Interestingly, President Rama is a well-known Juventus supporter.

In his Instagram story, Zhegrova simply wrote, “Proud to be Albanian.”
The 26-year-old player is of Kosovan-Albanian descent through his parents.
