K Parera’s 50 Put SL on Top against Aussies

The opening Lankan batter Kusal Parera seems to be quite threatening right from the word go. He completes his first 57-balls fifty of ICC CWC23 in the 18th over of the innings as SL seem holding the grip tightly against the Kangroos. His innings provides a fabulaous platform to upcoming Lankan batters to carry on the momentum. 

The left handed batter completes his 16th ODI and 3rd against AUS half-century in his 112th ODI match besides 6 tons. He has been out of form in this ICC Men’s ODI CWC23 but today he’s showing why SL keep testing him despite his failures. Before this innings, he has played 111 ODIs and scored 15 hal-centuries and 6 centuries. He’s scored 3095 runs at an average of 30.64 with highest 135.

The left-handed batter has played 11 ODIs against AUS averaging 24 only with only 2 half-centuries. This is his 3rd against the Kangroos and he has performed when his team need to win badly and open their account in the ICC Men’s CWC23. 

He has provided 125-runs stand for the opening wicket together with Nissanka. Earlier in the tournament, SL’s opening wicket partnership ended at 1 against SA and 5 against PAK. So this partnership will definitely boost their confidence as a team. 

He has contributed 54 off 63 at a strike rate of 85.71 while Nissanka contributed 61 off 67 striking slightly above 91. Both openers hit 8 boundaries each in their 125-runs stand.
