Kevin Danso played a pivotal role in RC Lens successfully securing the signing of Samson Baidoo, despite significant competition from several Premier League clubs. The French side managed to acquire the 21-year-old center-back from RB Salzburg for an €8 million deal, which includes performance-based bonuses. Baidoo has already arrived in northern France and is set to finalize a five-year contract.
According to reports, Baidoo had initially given his agreement in principle to Les Sang et Or, which subsequently sparked increased market activity. Following this, RB Salzburg received delegations from two Premier League teams, both willing to offer more financially than Lens. However, these escalated offers did little to sway the defender`s decision.
Baidoo was ultimately convinced by Lens` compelling presentation, which included an explanation from Pierre Sage detailing where he envisioned the center-back as a central piece in their three-man defense. Even more influential was the personal testimony and advice from his international teammate, Kevin Danso.
During his initial interactions with the Ligue 1 club, Baidoo specifically sought Danso`s counsel. Danso, a former fan favorite at Lens, shared insights into how the club prioritizes player development and spoke highly of the unique culture surrounding the team, ultimately sealing Baidoo`s commitment to Lens.
