Las Vegas is reportedly set to host the highly anticipated draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup this December. According to an ESPN report, the event, scheduled for December 5th, will determine the group stage matchups for the expanded 48-team tournament, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico, and Canada. While Pachuca executive Pedro Cedillo has indicated his expectation for the draw to be held in Las Vegas, FIFA has yet to officially confirm either the date or the location.
This isn`t the first time the Nevada city has been considered for such a significant football event; Las Vegas previously hosted draws for the 1994 World Cup. However, the previously used Las Vegas Convention Center is unavailable on December 5th. The Sphere, another prominent venue, was also mentioned as a potential site, but it appears unlikely due to a scheduled performance by the Zac Brown Band on the same evening.
The upcoming tournament will feature matches across 16 cities in total. In the United States, 11 cities are divided into three geographical regions:
- East: New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, Boston, Miami, and Atlanta
- Central: Kansas City, Dallas, and Houston
- West: Los Angeles, Seattle, and the San Francisco Bay Area
Mexico will host games in Guadalajara, Monterrey, and Mexico City, while Canada`s host cities are Toronto and Vancouver. The grand final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup is slated for July 19, 2026, at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
