Lazio earned a crucial three points with a decisive 3-0 victory over Genoa. Youngster Matteo Cancellieri was instrumental in setting the Biancocelesti on their path to success.
Despite Genoa`s prolonged periods of dominance throughout the match, they failed to convert their opportunities into goals. Lazio, employing a resilient 4-2-3-1 formation due to an injury crisis, maintained a sturdy defense.
First Half: Lazio`s Clinical Edge and Genoa`s Missed Opportunities

Lazio began with high intensity, and their early pressure paid off. Taty Castellanos delivered a superb through ball to Matteo Cancellieri, who expertly curled it past Genoa`s goalkeeper Nicola Leali into the top corner, marking a composed finish and an early impact from the young Italian.
Following Lazio`s opener, Genoa gradually found their rhythm, spurred on by their home crowd. Despite manager Patrick Vieira observing from the stands, his team created several half-chances to equalize before the 30-minute mark.
Just as Genoa`s confidence was building, their hopes were dampened again. Excellent interplay between Castellanos and Adam Marusic culminated in the Argentine extending Lazio`s lead to 2-0. Marusic, unfortunately, had to be substituted due to an injury sustained during the goal, with Elseid Hysaj stepping in.
Genoa intensified their attack before halftime, but Lazio goalkeeper Provedel made crucial saves to deny Mikael Egill Ellertsson and Lorenzo Colombo. The halftime whistle was a welcome sound for the visitors, who had withstood significant pressure in the final ten minutes of the opening half.
Second Half: Lazio Solidifies Lead and Seals Victory

Genoa resumed the second half with the same offensive intent, immediately pressing the Lazio defense and creating a few early scoring opportunities.
Approximately an hour into the game, Genoa was initially awarded a penalty after Alessio Romagnoli was judged to have handled the ball in the box. However, the decision was subsequently overturned following a VAR review.
With 25 minutes remaining, Lazio further extended their lead to three goals. A free-kick delivered into the box by Luca Pellegrini led to a goalmouth scramble, and Mattia Zaccagni was perfectly positioned at the far post to tap in the third.
After conceding the third goal, Genoa struggled to regain composure, appearing to lose confidence as the clinical Biancocelesti capitalized on their faltering defense.
Cancellieri had a prime opportunity to score his second goal with twenty minutes left but shot over the bar, a chance he would likely have expected to convert.
