Lecce Confirms Sottil Arrival, Addresses Krstovic’s Future Aspirations

Football & Cricket

US Lecce has officially announced the acquisition of Riccardo Sottil on a loan deal from Fiorentina. Concurrently, Club President Saverio Sticchi Damiani acknowledged that forward Nikola Krstovic has expressed a desire to advance his career to the next level.

The loan agreement for winger Sottil, who recently concluded a six-month spell at AC Milan, is structured as a dry loan, meaning it does not include an option for a permanent transfer. The cost of this temporary move to Fiorentina is reportedly €500,000.

President Sticchi Damiani commented on the new signing: “We have been pursuing Sottil for several days, and such deals often require time, especially when there`s significant interest in the player. Sottil arrives highly motivated and eager to demonstrate his capabilities. His familiarity with our coach will also be a valuable asset.”

While Sottil is a fresh addition, Lecce is actively managing inquiries for its strikers, including Santiago Pierotti and Nikola Krstovic. Krstovic, in particular, has attracted considerable attention from prominent clubs such as Roma, Milan, Atalanta, and Leeds United.

Regarding Krstovic`s situation, the President stated: “Krstovic approached us about taking the next step in his career. If a suitable arrangement can be found that benefits all parties involved, then Krstovic may depart. Otherwise, we are content to retain him. This differs from Pierotti`s situation; although various clubs are reportedly interested in him, he has not requested a release.”

The 25-year-old Krstovic was signed from Dunajska Streda in 2023 for approximately €4.4 million, including add-ons. He enjoyed a successful last season, contributing 11 goals and five assists in 37 Serie A appearances for Lecce, which has significantly fueled his ambition for a potential move to a larger club.
