Leeds Reaches Agreement with Lyon Over Goalkeeper Lucas Perri

Football & Cricket

Leeds United, the newly promoted Premier League side, has reportedly finalized an agreement with French club Lyon for the transfer of Brazilian international goalkeeper Lucas Perri, aged 27. This significant development was initially reported by Fabrice Hawkins of RMC Sport.

Perri distinguished himself last season as one of Ligue 1`s most dependable goalkeepers. His consistently impressive performances, coupled with Lyon`s well-documented challenging financial situation, have made him an attractive prospect for various European clubs throughout the current transfer window.

Prior to Leeds`s concrete interest, the Brazilian shot-stopper was reportedly linked with AS Monaco, a club that explored numerous options in their search for a new primary goalkeeper, including high-profile names such as David de Gea. Saudi club Neom SC also showed interest in Perri. However, Leeds United`s pursuit intensified as they sought to upgrade their goalkeeping options, particularly after French goalkeeper Ilan Meslier`s performances last season were marked by errors and drew significant scrutiny from fans and analysts alike.

Lucas Perri is now expected to depart Lyon`s ongoing pre-season tour in Germany. He will travel directly to England to undergo a medical examination with the Whites, a crucial step before the deal is officially sealed. The agreed transfer fee for Perri is reported to be €15 million.
