Leeds United has officially confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Lucas Perri, aged 27, from French club Olympique Lyonnais. Following their recent promotion to the Premier League, manager Daniel Farke had highlighted the goalkeeping position as a crucial area needing reinforcement within his squad.
Perri arrives in West Yorkshire after spending 18 months with Lyon. The Brazilian international was initially brought to OL from their Brazilian affiliate club, Botafogo. During his tenure in France`s Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region, the former Botafogo stopper made 49 appearances for Lyon. He played a pivotal role during his initial six months at the club, contributing significantly to OL`s journey to the Coupe de France final.
Leeds will reportedly pay a transfer fee of €15 million to Olympique Lyonnais for the 27-year-old`s services. Perri has put pen to paper on a four-year contract at Elland Road, becoming the newly promoted side`s seventh acquisition of the summer. This strategic move aims to solidify their position in England`s top football division for the foreseeable future.
