Leicester City is reportedly pursuing a late transfer for Rennes` 21-year-old midfielder, Jordan James, according to French newspaper Le Parisien. The Welsh international joined Les Rouge et Noir last year from his formative club, Birmingham City.
However, his tenure in Brittany is expected to be short-lived, with a departure anticipated after just one season. Rennes head coach Habib Beye reportedly does not consider James a crucial part of his squad, and he has yet to make an appearance for the Ligue 1 team this campaign.
James`s lack of involvement is evident, as he was an unused substitute in Rennes` 1-0 home victory against Marseille and was excluded from Beye`s travelling squad for the subsequent match against Lorient. Leicester City is now keenly pursuing the midfielder, who had previously attracted interest from Parma and newly-promoted Championship club Wrexham earlier in the transfer window.
The Foxes are currently engaged in discussions with Rennes, aiming to finalize an agreement for James`s transfer to the King Power Stadium.
