RC Lens is reportedly in advanced negotiations with Premier League side Crystal Palace to sign striker Odsonne Edouard (27) for a permanent transfer, estimated at approximately €4 million. This strategic move comes after Lens experienced delays and impatience during their pursuit of Lassine Sinayoko (25) from AJ Auxerre, prompting them to explore new options to significantly strengthen their attacking lineup, as reported by journalist Sacha Tavolieri.
Edouard appears set to depart Crystal Palace this summer, having been deemed surplus to requirements by the Premier League club`s management. His availability on the market follows his prior rejection of an offer from Girona, and a potential transfer to OGC Nice also failed to materialize, with Nice subsequently shifting its focus to other targets.
Lens`s urgent search for a prolific new forward stems from concerns that their current primary attacking option, Rayan Fofana (19), may not yet possess the experience or consistency required for a demanding starting role. This was notably observed during their recent 3-1 victory against Stade Brestois, where Fofana’s performance highlighted the need for more seasoned firepower upfront. The French club has also been associated with a potential move for Olympique de Marseille`s Neal Maupay (29), indicating their broad approach to finding the right striker.
