Lens reach agreement with Metz to sign Matthieu Udol

Football & Cricket

According to reports from Foot Mercato, RC Lens and FC Metz have reached a final agreement for the transfer of Matthieu Udol during the summer window. The 29-year-old defender is currently under contract with the Lorraine-based club until 2027.

Metz had previously indicated a strong desire to keep their captain. The club`s president recently expressed his wish for Udol to remain at the club. Udol played a key role in Les Grenats` successful Ligue 2 promotion play-offs against Reims, scoring in both legs to help secure their return to Ligue 1 with a 4-2 aggregate score.

Last season, Saint-Étienne had reportedly shown interest in bringing Udol back to Ligue 1. However, Udol has now committed to joining Lens. He is expected to undergo a medical examination with Les Sang et Or shortly before his official presentation as a new player.
