RC Lens has reportedly succeeded in their pursuit of AS Roma full-back Saud Abdulhamid (26), acquiring the player on loan and outmaneuvering Toulouse FC. The Saudi Arabian international is set to join Les Sang et Or for the remainder of the current season, with no permanent transfer option included in the agreement.
It was initially widely expected that the right-back would be heading to Toulouse in the south of France, rather than the northern club. Abdulhamid had been a long-standing target for Toulouse, who had previously lost out on signing him to AS Roma last summer. However, reports indicate that Toulouse was unable to finalize the deal this time, facing obstacles due to the number of non-EU players already in their squad.
Meanwhile, Lens has been actively seeking to bolster their defensive options. They had considered a potential reunion with Przemyslaw Frankowski. However, this transfer reportedly fell through, as the cost associated with bringing the Polish international back to the Stade Bollaert-Delelis was deemed prohibitive. Frankowski is now understood to be on the verge of joining Stade Rennais.
