French club Lille has officially completed the transfer of Portuguese winger Félix Correia, aged 24, from Liga Portugal side Gil Vicente. The agreement was previously reported by journalist Fabrizio Romano. Lille OSC is understood to have paid a transfer fee of €7 million for the player. Further details from Le Parisien indicate that Correia has signed a four-year contract with the club, known affectionately as `Les Dogues`.
Correia, a former Portugal U19 international, becomes Lille`s fourth signing of the current summer transfer window. His arrival follows those of Marius Broholm, Arnaud Bodart, and Olivier Giroud. The club had identified the need for a left-sided winger to increase competition for Osame Sarhaoui, particularly as Edon Zhegrova has departed and his role has effectively been covered by Broholm`s signing. During the last season, Correia was a key player for Gil Vicente, contributing ten goals and four assists across 37 appearances.
This season, Lille will participate in the Europa League competition. They secured their spot by finishing fifth in the recent Ligue 1 campaign, joining fellow French side Lyon in the European tournament.
