French football club Lille is nearing the completion of a deal to acquire 27-year-old left-back Romain Perraud from Real Betis. Talks between all parties are reportedly at an advanced stage, with optimism that the deal will be finalized in the coming days.
Perraud would be a significant reinforcement for Lille`s defense, which aims to strengthen after narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification last season. The `Dogs` are also expected to sign defender Nathan Ngoy from Standard Liège, further bolstering their backline.
The former Paris FC, OGC Nice, and Stade Brestois defender spent the 2024/25 season in La Liga, where he made 41 appearances for Betis, scoring 2 goals and providing 2 assists across all competitions. Before his move to Spain, Perraud also played for Southampton in the Premier League. Previously, it was reported that Perraud was targeted by Olympique de Marseille at the start of the transfer window.
Meanwhile, Lille is also facing strong Premier League interest in their current starting center-back Bafodé Diakité, particularly from Bournemouth and Sunderland. Lille is reportedly holding firm on a valuation of over €40 million for the 23-year-old Diakité.
